Multi-Lingual Education for Ethnic Groups

Since 2002, SIL and the Thai Ministry of Education have cooperated to develop research projects in which minority children receive early education in their mother tongue, and later transition to the national language. Research worldwide has shown that this method helps improve the students’ ability in the national language and also preserves these children’s cultures and languages.

In 2006, SIL and the Thai Ministry of Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding to guide future cooperation.
