Introducing SIL

SIL International is a faith-based international organization that researches and helps develop minority languages. Over the past 75 plus years, SIL linguists have cooperated with governments, international agencies, and communities in more than 70 countries to assist in developing more than 1,800 languages.

Today SIL is the largest language development organization in the world. SIL helps minority language speakers in such areas as basic literacy, critical thinking skills and project leadership. This enables communities to write their own books and stories, and helps improve their quality of life.

For more than 25 years, SIL has cooperated with Thai institutions and individuals to research and preserve Thailand’s linguistic diversity.
