International Cooperation

SIL cooperates with the Bangkok regional offices of many international organizations including the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the South East Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO). SIL also partners with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

SIL has been in a formal consultative relationship with UNESCO since 1995, and since 1997 has had “special consultative status” with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).

SIL is a Ramon Magsaysay Award recipient. Known as “the Asian Nobel Prize,” the award honors individuals and organizations in Asia that have made contributions to the advancement of friendship, tolerance, peace, and solidarity as the foundations for sustainable development within and across countries.
